Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
Colossians 3 v 23 – 24
What is the team for?
As a church who meets outside our own building, each week we need to ensure that the Elizabeth Hall is set up in the best way possible to facilitate the smooth running of a Sunday morning. You will be responsible for setting up the spaces we use, being on hand to support as necessary during the service, and packing down at the end of the morning.
The team plays a vital role in the practical side of Sunday mornings, supporting all the other teams with their responsibilities. Your work makes sure that our meetings are safe, of a high standard and that the Elizabeth Hall is well looked after by the church.
What will my role be on the team?
You have a range of responsibilities every Sunday morning, as directed by the team leader.
Main responsibilities include putting out the chairs, banners, and tables for children’s work and refreshments. You will liaise with the other teams, particularly production, to offer any support they might need throughout the morning. You should see if the children and youth teams need any support such as tables being put out.
At the end of the service you will be responsible for packing away all the rooms. It may be best to stack the chairs and move them to the side of the room, so that once the refreshment table is packed down at the end they can then be moved to the back of the hall.
What do I need to consider when joining the team?
This role is a practical one, but you are also representing the church and our values as you are serving. Whilst you will be focused on the many jobs that need doing, you should be friendly in all your interactions, and sensitive to what is happening – for example, if people are praying after the service, it is fine to work around them as necessary but give space if possible. Bear in mind new people might be unsure about what happens at the end of a service and so if you need to ask them to move, you should do so with kindness.
Full training will be provided, with regular updates from the leadership team.
